River Rest Cemetery
Sunset Hills and River Rest Cemeteries were established in 1926 as a final resting place for residents of the Flint area. It was the dream of the trustees that these grounds would be a place of beauty forever where families of the departed would always find solitude and peace. To assure the future of this vision the trustees elected to make Sunset Hills a permanent non-profit organization. We have provided for the perpetual care of our beautiful grounds through a special fund set aside solely for this purpose. Rolling hills enhance the beautiful landscape of the cemetery and provide a backdrop for a variety of trees planted throughout the grounds. Thousands of white daffodils surround the entrances in early spring. The perennial gardens showcase a variety of plants and grasses. Hundreds of flats of colorful flowers are planted throughout the cemetery each year providing a “summer of color” well into the fall.
