Can you sell a cemetery plot?

Yes, in almost every case. If the plot has never been used for a burial, it is paid in full, and the deed is in your name, you are free to sell it and the cemetery records the transfer to the new owner. Do cemeteries buy back plots?

Most do not. A cemetery's business is selling the spaces it still owns, and the ones that do take a plot back usually offer what you originally paid rather than what a comparable space sells for today. How much does it cost to sell a plot on Eturnal Rest?

Listing starts at $49 a year for one plot, billed once a year through secure checkout. The price per space drops as you add more, so spaces 6 through 20 are $35 each and the rate keeps stepping down from there. Everyone pays from the same published schedule, whether you hold a single plot or manage a full inventory, and you see your exact price before you pay.

Do you take a commission when my plot sells?

No, we do not charge a commission when your plot sells. The listing plan is the only thing you pay us, starting at $49 a year, and the full amount a buyer pays for your plot goes to you. The cemetery may charge its own fee to record the transfer of ownership, and that fee is set by the cemetery rather than by Eturnal Rest.

How long does it take to sell a cemetery plot?

It depends on the cemetery and on your asking price. A plot at a cemetery families are actively searching can draw inquiries soon after it goes live, and a plot in a quieter area can take months. Pricing below the cemetery's current retail rate, having your deed in hand, and replying to inquiries within a day are what move a plot fastest. Your listing stays live for the full year you have paid for.

Who handles the transfer of ownership?

The cemetery office does. You and the buyer agree on the price and the details, then the cemetery records the change of ownership on its books, the same way any plot changes hands. Most cemeteries charge a transfer fee, and either the buyer or the seller can cover it. Eturnal Rest introduces you to the buyer and we do not hold the sale money.
